FAQ: Ducklings - A Game About Parenting!

Are you EU friendly? Do you ship to the UK?

We can ship to the EU and have shipped preview copies to the UK, but we do not ship from within the EU so we are not technically EU friendly. All in all this means shipping costs to the EU are about $10 (USD) to $15 (USD) depending on whether you purchase one or two units.

Is shipping included with the reward tier, or is it charged after the Kickstarter launches?

Shipping is included in the reward tier. We need to calculate our final shipping costs once we figure out how many units have been sold, but the shipping number next to the reward tier is the shipping cost we will charge. If our actual shipping costs go down, we will be happy to reimburse people over Paypall

Does the No Harm No Foul pledge tier include unlocked stretchgoals?

No Harm No Fowl will include all stretch goals, but Nest to Nothing will only include the Print and Play version.

Can I play Ducklings at Casual Fridays? I'm afraid that this game might be too emotional...

Yes, you can definitely play Ducklings at Casual Fridays!

While Ducklings has an emotional core built into the game design, it is still up to the willingness of the players to act on those emotions. We have playtested the game in both serious and casual scenarios and have found that both work well.

Depending on your friend group, the casual scenarios may give rise to a better game as having a friendly atmosphere creates a better foundation to experience the natural emotions through player interaction and game design.

How many players can this game support?

-Four Players- (Normal Rules) This is the original experience. Right out of the box, our game supports exactly four players. We have found that four players creates the perfect balance of competition and cooperation. Having four players also fulfils the requirements for having two parents on both teams, which means you have to work together with someone else and thus, the game becomes infinitely more interesting.

-What about other player numbers?- In an effort to support different player numbers (either due to a shortage of players or too many of them), we are also developing additional rulesets that will be posted in our online rulebook (these additional rules won’t be printed in the physical rulebook). Having an online rulebook will also allow us to continuously update the game and allow you to contribute feedback of your experiences as well.

-Two Players- (“Single Parent Rules” - One parent for each family) This ruleset will be developed after the Eight Player Ruleset. Essentially, it will enable a two player experience that is similar to being a single duck parent (of three ducklings)

  • Eight Players - (Four teams of Two Parents) We are in the process of developing an Eight Player Ruleset to accommodate the purchase of two boxes of Ducklings. With this ruleset, you will be able to play a large game that supports four families trying to make it to their homes.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
